Bible Question:
Mark: After researching with all my "tools" I came to that conclusion, on my own, but wanted a more informed answer. But why does the Greek-English NT I have have Strongs 3061 as a referance. I believe this is post 1940 or ealier Greek-English text? Thanks again Mark. Justme |
Bible Answer: Hi Justme, It just depends on which text it is using. There are a number of them in common use. The Nestle-Aland and the UBS texts are the same except punctuation and diacritical marks. The "Received Text" could be Stephens, Scrivner's, or others, and some use an eclectic text. So you could have a modern translation of a 17th century text, or you could have the very latest Majority Manuscript. Strong's numbering system was originally built around the King James Received Text, but has been revised and adapted over the years to several different texts, and says more about the usage and meaning of words than their appearance in certain passages. Which Greek-English NT do you have? Love in Christ, Mark |
