Bible Question: Mat. 24:36 says the "Son will not know, only the Father"..., so was Christ omniscient? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Caribu, This verse is similar to Mark 13:32.. Scripture is abundantly clear that in His divine nature, Jesus is omniscient- just as omniscient as the Father is (John 2:25, 7:29, 8:55, 10:15, 16:30, 17:25, 21:6-11,17, Luke 5:4-6, Matthew 11:27, 17:27). However, in Matthew 24:36 and Mark 13:32, I am convinced that Jesus is speaking from the perspective of His humanity, since He was both divine and human while remaining one Person. From Christ's divine standpoint, He is as omniscient as the Father. But from His human standpoint, He did not know the day or hour of His return. Blessings to you, Makarios |
