AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 24:20 "Pray that your flight [from persecution and suffering] will not be in winter, or on a Sabbath [when Jewish laws prohibit travel]. |
Bible Question: My question pertains to Mattew 24:20. I would like to know about what that certain scripture means by praying that the flight will not take place in the winter. Is that refering to the Holy Land or other wise? |
Bible Answer: Greetings, In this verse Christ was prophesing that about the great tribulation at which time the Anti-Christ would desecrate the Temple of God. Buy saying He hoped it wasn't winter He was saying that this will happpen quickly, in a seconds notice the believers would have to flee to the mountains to avoid death. The Christians also remembered his warning in 70 AD when the Roman General Titus destroyed Jerusalem. Many fled to the mountains of Perea at this time to avoid slavery and death. prayon |
