Bible Question: Doc, thanks for the reply. I understand completely what you are implying, but isn't quibbling more accurately describing our stating that it is "pretty much destroyed" when He tells us not one stone would be left upon another? I had this question posed to me from a member of a Bible Study group. I could only reply with what I have learned concerning the events in A.D.70. In response, the question volleyed back to me was along the lines of "why am I not taking the Lord at His word?" If in fact the wall was part of the Temple complex then it should be totally destroyed not partially. I was hoping to formulate a reply with more certainty, an incontestable response. If I posed the same question to you, "why am I not taking the Lord at His word?" what kind of response may I expect to get? Again thanks for your time. It is nice to be welcomed to a new place. |
Bible Answer: Dear WOB, If it was a retaining wall, as Emmaus insists, then it is a non-issue. After all, how much of a thing must be torn down to be torn down? We find similar prophecies regarding Sidon (Ezek 26:4-14). Yet we uncover parts of walls and foundations remaining today. I suspect Christ meant the temple proper, where the melted gold required that the Romans actually pried up the foundation blocks. Check it out on-line. A retaining wall does not a building make! :-) In Him, Doc |
