NASB | Matthew 23:23 ¶ "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cummin, and have neglected the weightier provisions of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness; but these are the things you should have done without neglecting the others. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 23:23 ¶ "Woe to you, [self-righteous] scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you give a tenth (tithe) of your mint and dill and cumin [focusing on minor matters], and have neglected the weightier [more important moral and spiritual] provisions of the Law: justice and mercy and faithfulness; but these are the [primary] things you ought to have done without neglecting the others. |
Subject: NT tithing completely unbiblical? |
Bible Note: Hey Kalos, Even if everything you say is completely true. If you are a believer of God's Word, then you should just WANT TO tithe, even if you don't HAVE TO. Mal 3:10 Bring all the tithes (the whole tenth of your income) into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now by it, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. I want God to bless me!! I am a firm believer that God keeps his promises. Tithing can only help, and not hurt. And the Lord goes on to say... Mal 3:11 And I will rebuke the devourer [insects and plagues] for your sakes and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground, neither shall your vine drop its fruit before the time in the field, says the Lord of hosts. Tithing is a good way to keep those holes out of your pockets. So since we're all firm believers of the Word of God... whether we have to tithe or not, we should really want to. My God keeps his promises... Peace, Grace, and blessings to you all!! |
