Bible Question:
Tim, It is very kind of you to take the time to answer questions. I didn't not even notice the fact that it says he sat on the coats, not the donkey. I guess that would have helped! My next question is do you find it curious that Matthew indicates two donkeys as Wikipedia alludes to as being a fabrication. Let me say it this way, do you interpret Zechariah 9 to mean that there are two donkeys or one donkey supporting that the poetic style is really meaning one donkey. Honestly this seems silly talking about one or two donkeys but I appreciate your thoughts. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Dpoag! As Doc already mentioned, Hebrew poetry made extensive use of parallelisms. So, Zech. 9:9 is only referring to one donkey, the colt. Matthew's account agrees with Zech. 9:9 as Jesus only rides the colt, even though the mother comes along with the foal. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
