Bible Question:
WHO was Jesus serving? Some Scriptures come to mind: Choose this day WHO you will serve (Josh 24:15). . . You cannot serve God and mammon (Mt 6:24). . . I have come to do your will, Oh God. (Heb 10:7-10) Is service to others the same as service to God? When is it different? Is it important for believers to be aware of this? |
Bible Answer: Mommapbs, Be exalted above the heavens, O Lord our God; Let Your glory be above all the earth! I will sing the glory of His name and make His praise glorious! My mouth is filled with His praise! And with His glory all day long! OK dear sister, I am going to take a stab at this. This looks like a wonderful and thought provoking subject! You write: "Is service to others the same as service to God?" Answer: Matt 25:31 "But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. Matt 25:32 "All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; Matt 25:33 and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left. Matt 25:34 "Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. Matt 25:35 'For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; Matt 25:36 naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.' Matt 25:37 "Then the righteous will answer Him, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? Matt 25:38 'And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? Matt 25:39 'When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' Matt 25:40 "The King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.' You write: "When is it different?" Luke 10:29 But wishing to justify himself, he said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" Luke 10:30 Jesus replied and said, "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among robbers, and they stripped him and beat him, and went away leaving him half dead. Luke 10:31 "And by chance a priest was going down on that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Luke 10:32 "Likewise a Levite also, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. Luke 10:33 "But a Samaritan, who was on a journey, came upon him; and when he saw him, he felt compassion, Luke 10:34 and came to him and bandaged up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them; and he put him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn and took care of him. Luke 10:35 "On the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I return I will repay you.' Luke 10:36 "Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the robbers' hands?" Luke 10:37 And he said, "The one who showed mercy toward him." Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do the same." Rom 14:16 Therefore do not let what is for you a good thing be spoken of as evil; 1 Pet 2:12 Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that in the thing in which they slander you as evildoers, they may because of your good deeds, as they observe them, glorify God in the day of visitation. You write: "Is it important for believers to be aware of this?" James 1:5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. I refuse to walk a cripple into a tavern or house of ill-repute, etc... but if he/she falls on the sidewalk in front of it or on the way to it, I will go to their aid in the name of Jesus Christ. Bleesings to you dear sister! Your brother and friend in Christ, David I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in mouth! |
