NASB | Matthew 2:9 After hearing the king, they went their way; and the star, which they had seen in the east, went on before them until it came and stood over the place where the Child was. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 2:9 After hearing the king, they went their way; and behold, the star, which they had seen in the east, went on before them [continually leading the way] until it came and stood over the place where the young Child was. |
Bible Question:
When the magi visited Jesus, was he in Bethlehem or Nazareth? Luke and Matthew seem to have conflicting accounts. Luke has Jesus returning with his parents to Nazareth after they had him consecrated to the Lord in the Temple in Jerusalem. Matthew has him in Bethlehem for 2 years. Why would Mary and Joseph stay in Bethlehem for two years when their home was in Nazareth? It doesn't make sense to me. Can anyone clarify? |
Bible Answer: Although Herod directed the Magi to go to Bethlehem, note what this verse says they did. The star led them to where the Child was. Matthew's account does not say that the star led them to Bethlehem does it? "We must obey God rather than men." Acts 5:29 Just an observation for you to consider.
