AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 2:2 "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the east and have come to worship Him." [Num 24:17; Jer 23:5; Zech 9:9] |
Bible Question:
Is there any Biblical evidence that the Magi knew when the Messiah would arrive? How did they know when to look for the star? |
Bible Answer: This passage in Matthew 2:2 tells us the Magi knew exactly what they were looking for, something had to make them aware of this. Many Bible scholars believe they were educated to the expectant arrival of the Messiah by Daniel. We know Daniel was leader of the Magi so it is almost certain he taught them of the great Jewish Hope. I think the timing was probably not known to them but the were told to prepare for the event. Much like we are told today to be ready for Jesus second coming. |
