AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 18:3 and said, "I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless you repent [that is, change your inner self--your old way of thinking, live changed lives] and become like children [trusting, humble, and forgiving], you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. |
Bible Question: When refering to to newborn babies, the words, "weaker and wiser" is that scripture or old wives tales? |
Bible Answer: Valarie: The expression "weaker and wiser" does not appear in the NASB. I don't happen to know the origin of it. You ask whether it's an "old wives' tale." Probably. A number of "old sayings" have been erroneously attributed to Scripture, things like "God helps those who help themselves" and "Cleanliness is next to godliness." The former, by the way, came from the pen of Ben Franklin, in an edition of "Poor Richard's Almanack." --Hank |
