AMPLIFIED 2015	Matthew 15:6 he is not to honor his father or his mother [by helping them with their need].' So by this you have invalidated the word of God [depriving it of force and authority and making it of no effect] for the sake of your tradition [handed down by the elders].

Bible Question: What do you mean by interesting?

Many read into the Bible what they wish and others simply derive what they may from what it "plainly" says.. :-)

What I mean by 'interesting' is that you have attempted to apply the scenario in the context of the verse to the Catholic religion. However, if we take a step backward, I believe that the same could be used to reflect what has become of Protestantism and Denominationalism as well, and perhaps even to a greater degree.
