Bible Question:
My question deals with the nature of the Son of God, when He was manifested upon the earth in Human form. Referring to Matthew 14:12-13 and the KJV says 'his disciples came, and took up the body, and buried it, and went and told Jesus.****When Jesus heard of it****'. How come Jesus Christ only knew John the Baptist had died when John's disciples told Him, as per the verses 'when Jesus heard of it'. I would appreciate that you only answer if you've been given the spiritual gift of teaching, we are warned to beware of false teachers. |
Bible Answer: Hi, Leslie N! There are many Biblical passages that seem to confound our understanding... After learning of Lazarus' fate Jesus did not hurry to his side--He waited about for two days before going to see Lazarus. Clearly, Jesus knew that Lazarus would die; yet He allowed it. Your sample passage talks about Jesus' taking off as soon as He heard of John's death--was He afraid of dying?... No! When it was His time He did not put up a fight! We must read the Scripture and look deeper than the textual language. We must allow the Holy Spirit to enlighten us with His Power! Jesus mission was not as that of the "crossing over" guy on the SciFi channel! When the disciples were overly concern about the end of times and Jesus did not offer an answer, did Jesus not truly know when the end is? Jesus, as the Lamb of God, did not come to reveal all knowledge, nor to fortell future events for the sake of entertainment. But you judge for yourself if He knew all or not: Now we see that you know everything and need not wait for questions to be put into words; because of this we believe that you came from God.' (John 16:30--see also Mark 2:6-8) Jesus' disciples were alert to the God's teachings and could see with greater clarity than the religious elite the things that pertained to Christ and to the Father. We too must allow God's Wisdom to shine on us! If we limit the Scripture to our finite knowledge and understanding the Truth may never set us free! God Bless! Angel |
