Bible Note: No, I definitely would not agree that the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John belong in the Old Testament. How can the story of the advent, life, teachings, suffering, death, burial, resurrection and ascension of Christ, which is the message of the Gospels and is absolutely foundational to Christianity, constituting the very core of the New Covenant, be considered to be the Old Covenant and placed among the 39 other books that comprise it? The appearance of the Holy Spirit in Acts does not prove your point. The third Person of the Trinity through whom God acts, reveals His will, empowers individuals, and discloses His personal presence is active in both the Old and New Testaments. Here are a few references for your inspection: Ps. 51:11; Is. 63:10,11; Gen. 1:2; 8:11; Ps. 104:3; Gen. 41:38; 2 Sam. 23:2; Zech 4:6; Judg. 3:10; 14:6; 1 Sam. 10:16; 19:23,24; Ex. 31:1-6; Is. 11:2. --Hank |
