AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 11:23 "And you, Capernaum, are you to be exalted to heaven [for your apathy and unresponsiveness]? You will descend to Hades (the realm of the dead); for if the miracles done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. |
Bible Question: How did Jesus compare the cities of His day to the ancient destroyed cities of Tyre and Sidon? |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... Matthew 11:21-12 "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles had occurred in Tyre and Sidon which occurred in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. Nevertheless I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment than for you." ... God's day to you, geemag, There are at least three prophecies against Tyre and Sidon (Isa 23:1-12 Jer 27:1-7 (v 3), Eze 28:21-23) ... He is saying if miracles were performed there, they would have repented. I am thinking like Ninevah in Jonah. I hope this helps, S |
