Subject: Jesus the Christ glorified! |
Bible Note: Did Jesus die spiritually A forum member whom I will not name said.. "To answer that question in the affirmative is to deny the deity of Christ..." Thank you for the response. I know how touchy this topic is (I have been reading of all the controversy surounding the trinity discussion in the early church). My question/observation is.. Does Jesus dying spiritually deny His diety, or does it, rather, truly define the awesomeness of the sacrifice and the awesome power to overcome power to defeat death Hell AND the grave. This is a serious theological question, I know...But again I must ask the question, What IS spiritual death? If Jesus Christ did not die our spiritual death, then in all reality the debt would not have been paid. Why can't we simply accept scripture which says He went to Hell WHICH IS SPIRITUAL DEATH! To say He went to Hell but did not die spiritually die creates a NEW delima...We have to redefine spiritual death...Or do and centuries of theologians have done, simply say that physical death of Jesus was sufficient to redeem condemned mankind and then ignore the fact that He went into Hell for three days. Matthew 10:28 "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." 1 Peter 3:18-20 18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: 19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; 20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. Romans 1:3-4 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; 4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: 1 Corinthians 15:41-47 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. 42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: 43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: 44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. 47 The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven. Our Lord apparently took our sins, paid our price and BECAUSE He is diety...the grave could not hold HIM...Glory to God! He broke the power of death Hell and the grave forever! God bless |
