Bible Question: what is faith |
Bible Answer: continued from previous post C.S.M. To sum up, Jesus is faith because he is described as faith, Ro 9:30-33..What shall we say then? That the GENTILES which followed NOT after righteousness (God himself) have attained to righteousness (God Him self), even the righteousness (faithfulness and love) which is of faith (Jesus Himself). (31) But ISRAEL (the other part of all the people of the earth) which followed after the LAW of RIGHTEOUSNESS (God's written word), has not attained to the (obedience to) the law of righteousness (God himself). (32) why? Because they sought it not by faith (Jesus himself, he had not come to earth yet, it was not yet time), but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone; (see I Peter 2:8, they didn't recognize the Messiah when he came, Jesus) (33) As it is written, Behold I (God the Father, Himself)lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believes on him (Jesus John 3:16) shall not be ashamed. (margin says: or confounded) That's how we conclude faith is a person, his name is Jesus Christ, the one on whom we must believe. How faith works, is another question. What is faith, is another question. But who is faith is vital to your understanding of all the other questions about faith. Always in Christ, C.S.M. |
