Bible Question: The Hebrew word mishrah is the word for grape juice. What are the words in the Latin and Greek found in the vulgate and septuagint translations? |
Bible Answer: Greetings 777Sherlock! The actual phrase in Num. 6:3 is: "juice of grapes" 4952 and 6025 The LXX translates Strong's (4952 and 6025) with a phrase rather than a single word. It uses: "...what is produced (2716) from (1537) grapes (4718)" Here 'produced' probably refers to anything squeezed from grapes. I do not read Latin, so I can't help you there. However, here is the text of this verse from the Vulgate, so maybe someone else on the forum can identify which word is used in it. "abstinebunt acetum ex vino et ex qualibet alia potione et quicquid de uva exprimitur non bibent uvas recentes siccasque non comedent" I hope this helps! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
