Bible Note: I think that's true: basically, we aren't told how Balaam influenced the idolatry.... the clearest moment is Numbers 31:16. I have been considering the significance of this story, and want to share this thought: Perhaps, when they heard a pagan prophet had blessed them, the Israelites dropped their guard against blending with the local cultures... just as we are prone to do: when we see those around us doing right, we are tempted to soften the exclusive claims of our Lord.
