Bible Question:
How then do we know when God stopped speaking through the Prophets and when he started again? In other words hwo do we rule out the Apocrypha as being scripture. Thanks! |
Bible Answer: These books had to go through a process called Canonization. This process was conducted by the early church. The books included in the canon had to adhere to critera. Canon means rule of life or doctrine. It was like a measuring rod for the books. The books had to be found satisfactory by the church council to be included in their particular canon. It had to meet the requirement that it is inspired by God. Most of the books were shown to be accepted very early on. It had to accepted as authoritative. The book had to be authored by a recognized prophet. Another example, Old Testament books were endorsed by Paul and Christ. John 5:39 If a new book back in the day was introduce for canonization and it had conflicting doctrine then it was not accepted because of it not being inspired work of God. |
