Bible Question:
I grew up in a Pentecostal church. I learned to always present God w/ my tithes and offereings. I've sinced learned that the New testament does not speak of tithing.I've met many people who believe tithing is a Pastors "get rich quick" scam. I'm almost 27 yrs. old and I don't know what to believe. I still tithe but I'm begining to question it's validity. Is it God's will to tithe??????? |
Bible Answer: I really don't know much about the Pentecostal beliefs, but they are correct. No, the New Testament doesn't say anything about tithes, but keep this in mind, the New testament did not cancel or void the Old Testament. The New Testament or Jesus came that the Old Testament might be fulfilled. Here are some scriptures for you. Malachi 3 8 Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. But you ask, How do we rob you? In tithes and offerings. 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. |
