Subject: Is it God's will to tithe in pres. time? |
Bible Note: Nolan,Another extract. What do you think? Give offerings unto the LORD (Deut. 12:6,11,17). For your tithe belongs to God and your offering is your seed that you want God to multiply back to you (Ezek. 36:29). An offering has a specific assignment that you want carried out. An offering is a seed of the fruit you want. The seed is what we give, and the harvest is what we keep. If we give nothing then we will receive nothing. For nothing multiplied by a million is nothing. Paul said to those who gave, “For even in Thessalonica you sent aid once and again for my necessities.” (Phil. 4:16). “Not that I seek a gift but I seek the fruit multiplying to your account” (Phil. 4:17 Green Interlinear). God does not measure the amount we give but how much we have left. If what I give does not move me, then it will not move God. When Jesus was sitting near the collection box a “poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, "Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.”” (Mark 12:42-44). The money she gave moved her and thereby moved Jesus to make this comment. For an uncommon seed produces an uncommon harvest. Why? Because we are using a higher level of faith to give it. If you earned 2,000 a month, would you need more faith to offer 1,000 or 10? Obviously 1,000. We don’t pay God for a miracle in the same way we don’t exchange an apple seed for an apple tree. God is not impressed by the amount of money we give, He is only pleased with the level of faith we use. Two things please God; The amount of faith we use (Heb. 11:6) and giving with a cheerful heart (2 Cor. 9:7). |
