AMPLIFIED 2015 | Malachi 3:10 "Bring all the tithes (the tenth) into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this," says the LORD of hosts, "if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you [so great] a blessing until there is no more room to receive it. Bible Question:
Giving tithes: I know it is a requirement and I'm perfectly happy to do what is required of God, but what if giving 10 percent of my check before taxes puts a strain on finances? Sometimes I don't give my full 10 percent because my finances are slim and I worry about not having enough to take care of all my needs. Then I feel very guility, like I'm cheating God. I do trust God and love Him. Does it mean that my faith isn't strong enough by not giving my full 10 percent and does that make me a sinner if I don't? Is it okay to give what I can afford? What should I do? vocab3802 |
Bible Answer: I know that sometimes it is tough especially when you are short in finances but God is always faithful and He always provides. My husband and I have been through many financial struggles, we even had to sell our home because times were tough, but we always tried to pay our tithes first, the only times we weren't able to were when we knew if we wrote the check it would bounce. If your bills include cable bills, internet bills or other optional bills I would say go without those before not tithing. We did not have cable for over a year. Believe me when we needed God, He was there for us. |
