AMPLIFIED 2015 | Zechariah 2:11 "Many nations shall join themselves to the LORD in that day and shall be My people. And I will dwell in your midst, and you shall know (recognize, understand fully) that the LORD of hosts has sent Me to you. [Is 2:3; Mic 4:2] |
Bible Question (short): Please! Translation clarification help? |
Question (full): In the NASB version of Zechariah 2:11, the word "my" in the first sentence, in reference to "My people" is capitalized. And the word "me" in the second sentence, in reference to "has sent Me to you." is also capitalized. Is this because the NASB belives that this is a clear reference to Jesus? The capitalized words, "My" and "Me", obvioulsy cannot be a reference to God, who is called the Lord of hosts in this verse? I am very confused because I thought the NASB only capitalized words like "he, him, and me" when they refer directly to the Heavenly Father, not Jesus Christ. I know that Jesus is God but am I just trying to clear this up for myself because this verse reads very strangely to me. It reads as if God is talking in the first and second person about himself! Thanks to anyone that can help! Jim |
