AMPLIFIED 2015 | Zechariah 11:17 "Woe (judgment is coming) to the worthless and foolish shepherd Who deserts the flock! The sword will strike his arm And his right eye! His arm shall be totally withered And his right eye completely blinded." [Jer 23:1; John 10:12, 13] |
Bible Question:
Who was the wothless shepherd of Zechariah 11:17? "Woe to the worthless shepherd Who leaves the flock! A sword will be on his arm And on his right eye! His arm will be totally withered And his right eye will be blind" |
Bible Answer: Greetings Mouse, Here's a bit of commentary on Zechariah 11:17.. "11:17 worthless shepherd. See note on v.15. This counterfeit shepherd may have found a partial historical fulfillment in such leaders as Simeon bar Kosiba or Kokhba (who led the Jewish revolt against the Romans in A.D. 132-135 and who was hailed as the Messiah by Rabbi Akiba). But it would seem that the final stage of the progressive fulfillment of the complete prophecy awaits the rise of the final antichrist (cf. Ezek. 34:2-4; Dan. 11:36-39; John 5:43; 2 Thess. 2:3-10; Rev. 13:1-8). .." (1) Blessings to you, Makarios (1) Zondervan NASB Study Bible, 1999, the Zondervan Corporation, Kenneth Barker, pg. 1345 |
