NASB | Zechariah 11:13 Then the LORD said to me, "Throw it to the potter, that magnificent price at which I was valued by them." So I took the thirty shekels of silver and threw them to the potter in the house of the LORD. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Zechariah 11:13 Then the LORD said to me, "Throw it to the potter [as if to the dogs]--that magnificent sum at which I am valued by them!" So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them to the potter in the house of the LORD. [Matt 26:14, 15; 27:3-10] |
Subject: HOW MUCH IS 30 SILVER COINS WORTH? |
Bible Note: Since it was the chief priest of the Temple who paid Judas the 30 pieces of silver, it is more likely they used the Temple coins. I believe that the 30 pieces reference was intended by Matthew to bring to mind the prophecy of Zechariah. Matthew is full of this kind of allusions to Old Testament passages. |
