AMPLIFIED 2015 | Jonah 4:11 "Should I not have compassion on Nineveh, the great city in which there are more than 120,000 [innocent] persons, who do not know the difference between their right and left hand [and are not yet accountable for sin], as well as many [blameless] animals?" |
Subject: Impatience with the World |
Bible Note: How often have we thought about the world and prayed, "God why don't you just deal with them?" When we lose patience like that, we are committing the sin of Jonah. In essence, we are asking the Lord to stop short His long-suffering and bring judgment. But, what would have happened had the Lord done that against us, before we were saved? Do we really want God to show less mercy to others than He has to us? I am grateful to the Lord that He has taught me this from this tiny portion of the Word. My conscience is pricked by this often. Lord, thank you for showing that in my heart I am no different from Jonah or the Sons of Thunder. Forgive me, and help me to be more like You in thought and deed. |
