AMPLIFIED 2015 | Obadiah 1:11 "On the day that [Jerusalem was destroyed] you stood aloof [from your brother Jacob]-- On the day that strangers took his forces captive and carried off his wealth, And foreigners entered his gates And cast lots for Jerusalem [dividing the city for plunder]-- You too were like one of them [collaborating with the enemy]. Bible Question (short): Why Do We Stand Aloof ... or Not? |
Question (full): I am preparing for my Sunday School lesson. As I read Obadiah 1:11, I see Edom stood aloof when strangers carried off Judah wealth. I thought about the Good Samaritan (Luk 10:25-37), where a priest and then a Levite come by, but both avoided the man … but the Samaritan took action. Are there other Biblical examples where the unexpected happened either taking no action or taking action? Also, why don't we help our neighbor ... from saving thier life, even to our peril ... to giving directions to one who seems lost? Searcher |
