AMPLIFIED 2015 | Leviticus 20:13 'If a man lies [intimately] with a male as if he were a woman, both men have committed a detestable (perverse, unnatural) act; they shall most certainly be put to death; their blood is on them. |
Bible Question: Recently the discussion of homosexuality and Sodom and Gomorrah was brought up. Someone said, "The sin that God destroyed those cities was the lack of hospitality and gave a scripture to back it (sorry, I don't have the scripture) and that there is not anything in the Bible that says God is against homosexuality. Anyway, to make a long story short, I was not able to prove or explain that this was the reason of the destruction. Now he has me wondering, "IS homosexuality alright?" He also said that because Jesus never mentioned homosexuality, it is okay with Him. What say you? (anyone!) |
Bible Answer: LibertyBelle, Here are some classic verses on homosexuality. The bible does indeed make specific references to it. Le 20:13 'If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them. (NAS 95) - Romans 1 24 Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. 25 For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. 26 For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27 and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.
