Bible Question: Does this mean tattooing as we know it today, or tattooing in regard to rituals or idols back then? |
Bible Answer: The people of Israel were to be characterized by outward, physical differences from the nations around them. That's basically the reason for both this command and circumcision. So to answer the question, it was for all tattoos. For Christian application, you need to ask the question: Am I doing this to be like unbelievers? This is not just for tattoos, but for anything we do in life. We are called to be nonconformists to this world. (Rom 12:1-2) Steve |
