AMPLIFIED 2015 | Leviticus 17:11 'For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement, by reason of the life [which it represents].' [Rom 3:24-26] |
Bible Question (short): Still Begs The Question... |
Question (full): I appreciate and understand the reasoning given by the New English Translators. But the point remains: there is a conflict in how the beth preposition is normally translated when used in conjunction with nephesh (life). I'll go further in saying that the NAS linguists have chosen to go out on a limb in Lev. 17:11 to support their choice of usages. Such an application begs the question, why? Why are we willing to stretch the normal usage of the beth preposition in this verse? |
