Bible Question: Why is a woman unclean longer after giving birth to a female, than if she gave birth to a male? (In the Old Testament) I know God values women and men, but passages like this seem to imply less value or cleanliness of females, even female infants. |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... Lev 12:1-5, 6-8; 15:19-27 ... VaVaVia, Greetings The value of a male or female are the same, based on the sacrifice (Lev 12:6-8). I'm not sure why there is a longer period if it is a feamle (vv 1-5), it may have something to do with the regulations of female uncleaness (15:19-27). Hope this helps, Searcher |
