AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hosea 1:4 And the LORD said to him, "Name him Jezreel; for yet in a little while I will avenge the blood [that was shed in the Valley] of Jezreel and inflict the punishment for it on the house of Jehu, and I will put an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel. [2 Kin 10:1-11] |
Bible Question (short): Why was Jehu to be punished by God? |
Question (full): I am having trouble understanding why God would punish king Jehu for the bloodshed of Jezreel mentioned in Hosea 1:4. It was my understanding that Joram was to be killed to fulfill the prophecy avenging the death of Naboth and his sons in 2 Kings 9:26. Was it just a soveriegn decision of God or am I missing something? |
