Bible Question: would like more indepth explaination of Pride and exactly how it effects the person, and its offence to the Lord |
Bible Answer: Hi Ginger, Pride is, quite simply, thinking of oneself more highly than one ought. There is a great deal that can be said about pride, but for simplicities sake, I would like to suggest that you read Daniel chapter 4, of King Nebuchadnezzar. Pay special attention to the decree given against him, and his statement once he was restored. Pride is lying to self, and sets us up to commit any number of sins, or to omit any number of good works. The proud are the opposite of the one described in 1 Cor 13. But take a look at Daniel 4, and let me know what you think. Love in Christ, Mark |
