Bible Question:
I realize that when we give our life to Christ, be reborn, that Satan has been defeated in that way, Satan was defeated when Jesus went to the cross and was crucified. What I am wanting to know is what a person is not to eat whil on this fast, do you know if pasta, fish or drinking coffee on this fast is acceptable or not? The reason I want to go on this fast is to get closer to my FAther and I am already submitted to Him,, to be able to hear Him more clearly for His direction in my life at this time, what is your input? |
Bible Answer: Hi Annamarie, God bless you for your heart that wants to be closer to Him! Jesus told us the time was coming, and had come, that all who worship the Father would worship Him in spirit and in truth. We speak of worshipping God, and this is to give Him His rightful place over everything else in our lives, including what we eat and drink. We fast to show by our works the state of our heart, that we would rather deny our bodies and be closer to Him. Our worship is to be in spirit (Spirit?). What does the Spirit lead you to deny? What could you abstain from, that the thought of doing so makes you inwardly cringe? I could tell you to fast from coffee, but if you are a tea drinker, so what? But for me to fast from coffee, that would be self-denial. :-) So, what is there in your life, that by denying yourself of this, would show that you truly want God more that these things? That is what you fast from. Television? Lunch? Meat? Altoids? Give it up for God, as a demonstration to Him and yourself that you want Him more! "Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you." God bless you! Love in Christ, Mark |
