NASB | Ezekiel 47:1 Then he brought me back to the door of the house; and behold, water was flowing from under the threshold of the house toward the east, for the house faced east. And the water was flowing down from under, from the right side of the house, from south of the altar. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ezekiel 47:1 Then he [my guide] brought me back to the door of the house [the temple of the LORD]; and behold, water was flowing from under the threshold of the house (temple) toward the east, for the front of the temple was facing east. And the water was flowing down from under, from the right side of the house, from south of the altar. |
Bible Question: In Ezekiel chapter 47, what temple is being referred to? Is the river anywhere near Mt. Sinai? |
Bible Answer: This passage is not talking about a physical location in the Sinai but rather is ether symbolism or a view into the future. Some believe what is revealed to Ezekiel here is the same thing as was revealed to John in Revelation 21 and 22. If you read the passage you will see a very definite likeness in both accounts. J Vernon McGee and others believe it is more symbolic with the river representing the blessing of God flowing from His throne. A third idea is this is the picture of Tabernacle in heaven we know Moses was shown the tabernacle in Heaven to use as model for the earthly one. Perhaps this is verbal description of Ezekiel's view into the heavens. EdB |
