NASB | Ezekiel 4:12 "You shall eat it as a barley cake, having baked it in their sight over human dung." |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ezekiel 4:12 "You shall eat your food as barley cakes, having baked it in their sight over human dung." |
Bible Question: Why did God give such an instruction to bake the bread on human dung? What is the significance of this? Later why did he change that to cow dung? |
Bible Answer: Hello, God wants to demonstrate through Ezekiel what they will be faced with when the siege of Jerusalem happens. They will not be able to accumulate firewood to cook their meals, so that will be their last source of fuel. Why was it changed? My thought is that Ezekiel considered cooking with human dung to be defiling. In the Law, human and animal waste was to remain outside the camp. Steve |
