Subject: meaning of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal |
Bible Note: Dear Brother Mark, In our pursuit of "several sources" I checked the "Old Testament Hebrew Lexicon" by Brown, Driver, Briggs and Gesenius. Here are their definitions for the names in question: Rosh "from an unused root apparently meaning to shake" Meshech "to draw... to trail (seed in sowing)" Tubal "probably of foreign derivation" (no other definition given) These four Hebrew language scholars seem to line up with James Strong. Caiaphas Hitchcock is out-voted with the current score -- but I'll keep looking. I'm working on obtaining Rabbinic scholarly input. I'll let you know if I succeed. In Him, Doc |
