Subject: 7 years of wrath |
Bible Note: Compare Ezekiel 38-39 to Isaiah and Revelation. From Ezekiel 38: Vs 14 Isreal dwells in the land in confidence. Vs 16 A prophecy of the latter days Vs 18-20 And it shall be on that day, when Gog comes against the land of Israel, declares the Lord Jehovah, My fury shall come up in My face. And in My jealousy, in the fire of My wrath, I have spoken. Surely, in that day there shall be a great quaking in the land of Israel. And the fish of the sea, and the birds of the heavens, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep on the earth, and all men on the face of the earth, shall quake at My face. Vs 22 And I will judge him with a plague and with blood, and an overflowing shower, and hailstones. I will rain fire and brimstone on him, and on his bands, and on the many peoples who are with him. Isaiah 2:19 “And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.” Revelation 6:12-17 “And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind. And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?” Revelation 8:7 “The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.” In the latter days When Israel dwells in confidence A time of wrath A great shaking in the land of Israel All men upon the face of the earth will shake at the LORD’s presence God will judge with plague, and blood, overflowing rain, Great hailstones, fire, brimstone There are differing views on when this invasion takes place, similar to the rapture. Some say before the tribulation, or at the beginning, some in the middle, some say this is the beginning of the war of Armageddon. Remember that this all happens at a time that Israel dwells “securely” or “confidently”. Would this describe Israel at the time of a 200,000,000 horse army killing a third of the world’s population, as will be in the middle of the 70th week? Or as the antichrist has persecuted them for 3.5 years, and now prepares to destroy them, at the end of the 70th week? Compare the following passages: Ezekiel 38:15 “And you shall come from your place out of the recesses of the north, you and many peoples with you, all of them riding on horses, a great assembly, a mighty army.” Zechariah 14:2 (Just before the LORD comes to stand on the Mount of Olives) “For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem.” At the beginning of the 70th week, or before it, something happens to instigate a return to temple worship. Israel is still a mostly secular nation. Ezekiel prophesies that as the LORD destroys these invaders, Israel will know that He is God (Ez 39:27-29). Zechariah, prophesying the LORD’s return to the Mount of Olives (Zech 12-10), prophesies the pouring out of the spirit to a deeper level, as they acknowledge Jesus. Israel will burn the invader’s weapons for fuel for seven years (Ezekiel 39:9-10), and bury the dead in Israel for 7 months (39:12). After Jesus appears in glory and power, the entire landscape of Israel will change (Zechariah 14:10), the nations will be gathered for judgment (Joel 3 and Matthew 25), and then 75 days later the millennial kingdom will begin (Dan. 12:13). The water that flows from the temple heals the waters and the land (Ezekiel 47). When are they burning the weapons? When are they burying the dead? They bury the dead in a valley east of the Dead Sea. The only reasonable conclusion to be drawn is that this battle happens at least 7 years before the return of Jesus. The beginning of the judgment matches what happens as the 6th seal is opened, and its conclusion matches the 1st trumpet. Coincidence? Or the Day of the Lord, the time of the Lord’s wrath, 7 years before His return. Ezekiel 39:8 “Behold! It has come, and it has happened, declares the Lord Jehovah. That is the day of which I have spoken.” |
