Bible Question: ok Iwas reading up on the bible and found that it is translated a couple different ways....for example...Ezekial 34:29....in some translations it talks about raising up a "plant" of renown...and in others....it talks about raising up a "plantation" or "planting area"....what is this all about and which version do i believe. I feel like i'm being told by one history teacher that we won the american revolution and by another that we lost its very frustrating...thanks for your time. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Flash420! Words can be tricky things to translate at times. In this case, the Hebrew word 'matta' can be either a plant (the thing planted) or the plantation (the place where things are planted). In the context, I would opt for the former. Eze. 34:29 seems to be an example of a dual prophecy. In one sense, God is saying that He will provide sustenance for His people. But, in another sense, the Messiah is probably the 'Plant of renown' as well. So, God is promising Israel both provision and a Messiah. I hope this helps. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
