Bible Question (short): irresponsible shepherds and fat sheep |
Question (full): My question relates to Ezekiel 34: 1-24 and beyond. The passage talks about irresponsible shepherds not caring for the flock. Do you think the OT is a reflection of our times? There is a lot of scripture where God uses His prophets to tell the people what they are doing wrong and setting His people on the right track. These days I either hear "You wicked sinner repent and ask for forgiveness", or " We are so special we have won the victory....". I have seen many people hurt by both sieds. I am becoming involved in a prayer ministry within my church and wondering the appropriateness of praying and confessing such things as the sheperds and fat sheep referred to in the Ezekiel passage. I feel presumptous to think such leaders and Christaian could exist in my church - the folk are so lovely and the church appears so healthy. I would not consider praying such a prayer for others unless I place myself at the top of the list for exposure.... I'd value comments that relate the Ezekiel passage to today's Christain life. |
