NASB | Ezekiel 33:6 'But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet and the people are not warned, and a sword comes and takes a person from them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require from the watchman's hand.' |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ezekiel 33:6 'But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet and the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, he is taken away because of his corruption and sin; but I will require his blood from the watchman's hand.' |
Bible Question (short): Gatekeeper's charge to warn of danger |
Question (full): I am searching for an answer to the following: Chapter and verse reference for my 'memory' of the following OT admonition. There is a specific instance that refers to a gatekeeper's obligation to call out a warning of danger to people in the city even if they refuse to heed the warning. The idea is that if he fails to warn them he assumes the burden for their destruction by not issuing the warning. If they reject his warning the responsibility lies with them, he has fulfilled his charge as gatekeeper. This paraphrase is too broad to pull keywords for a reference. Can anyone help? |
