NASB | Ezekiel 3:18 "When I say to the wicked, 'You will surely die,' and you do not warn him or speak out to warn the wicked from his wicked way that he may live, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ezekiel 3:18 "When I say to the wicked, 'You will certainly die,' and you do not warn him or speak out to tell him to turn from his wicked way to save his life, that same evil man will die in his sin, but you will be responsible for his blood. |
Bible Question:
I am searching for an answer to the following: Chapter and verse reference for my 'memory' of the following OT admonition. There is a specific instance that refers to a gatekeeper's obligation to call out a warning of danger to people in the city even if they refuse to heed the warning. The idea is that if he fails to warn them he assumes the burden for their destruction by not issuing the warning. If they reject his warning the responsibility lies with them, he has fulfilled his charge as gatekeeper. This paraphrase is too broad to pull keywords for a reference. Can anyone help? |
Bible Answer: Ezek 3:17 "Son of man, I have appointed you a watchman to the house of Israel; whenever you hear a word from My mouth, warn them from Me. Ezek 3:18 "When I say to the wicked, 'You will surely die,' and you do not warn him or speak out to warn the wicked from his wicked way that he may live, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. Ezek 3:19 "Yet if you have warned the wicked and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered yourself. |
