AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ezekiel 10:2 And the LORD spoke to the man (seventh angel) clothed in linen and said, "Go between the whirling wheels under the cherubim; fill your hands with coals of fire from between the cherubim and scatter them over the city." And he entered as I watched. [Rev 8:5] |
Bible Question: suggest a meaning for the coals (10:2) |
Bible Answer: Greetings and welcome. To add to what Timothy Paul said: God specifies that the angel reach in and grab the coals. The coals picture the fires of judgement which God's angels were to "scatter" on Jerusalem. In Isa 6 "coals" were used for the purification of the prophet; here they were used for the destruction of the wicked. Fire did destroy Jerusalem in 586 BC. prayon |
