NASB | Jeremiah 51:9 We applied healing to Babylon, but she was not healed; Forsake her and let us each go to his own country, For her judgment has reached to heaven And towers up to the very skies. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Jeremiah 51:9 We would have healed Babylon, but she was not to be healed. Abandon her and let each [captive] return to his own country, For her guilt and judgment have reached to heaven And are lifted up to the very skies. [Gen 18:20, 21] |
Subject: Nations in Dischord and Harmony |
Bible Note: "A boat rows against the stream; the current punishes it. So is a nation violating a law of God; it is subject to a judgment. The boat turns and goes with the stream; the current assists it. So is a nation which has repented and put itself into harmony with God’s Law; it is subject to a blessing. But the current is the same; it has not changed, only the boat has changed its relationship to the current. Neither does God change -- we change; and the same law which executed itself in judgment now expresses itself in reward." --Thomas Brooks |
