Bible Question:
If a Pastor take authority and do thing over the committee or Board of Trustee is he acting wrong as a Pastor? What does the Bible say? God Bless |
Bible Answer: It depends on what authority he is taking and what he is doing. In our church, we have a church constitution and by-laws that describes exactly what authority the pastor has and what the deacon board has and what the church member has, all these involve checks and balances. The pastor is the head of the church and such has the responsibility to oversee all areas of the church. I don't know the details of your church situation, but I caution you first and foremost to approach any potential conflict with lots of prayer. Satan uses division in churches, no matter how large or small to destroy churches. If you pastor has done something sinful, (for example had an affair) then your church should have rules and regulations set in place to deal with such a thing. If the matter is over a disagreement (for example the color of the church carpeting) I refer back to my earlier statement, use caution. Satan comes to devour and destroy. Satan feeds off division, especially in churches. I don't know the heart of your pastor, but speaking of my own pastor, he consults with the different committees and boards, but the ultimate responsibility for the spiritual health of the church falls on him (I hate to word it that away, because each member takes responsibility for the church also, but this could really become a long reply). Please pray and then pray some more. Brad |
