AMPLIFIED 2015 | Jeremiah 3:8 "And I saw [that even though Judah knew] that for all the acts of adultery (idolatry) of faithless Israel, I [the LORD] had sent her away and given her a certificate of divorce, yet her treacherous sister Judah was not afraid; but she went and was a prostitute also [following after idols]. |
Bible Question: Does this verse indicate the distinction between Israel and Judah? Please explain the difference in the two terms. |
Bible Answer: After the division of the Kingdom after Solomon died the Northern tribes were called Israel as a group. The Southern Kingdom was called Judah even though it also encompassed what remained of Simeon and Benjamin and had many of the Levites. |
