Bible Note: Greetings Searcher! Luke 16:13 "No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." [KJV] I believe that if our God is truly the Lord, then we are useful to Him! However, if our God is ourselves and satisfying our own flesh, then we are not useful to God. "I appeal to you for my child Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my imprisonment, who formerly was useless to you, but now is useful both to you and to me." (Philemon 1:11 [NASB]) The meaning of the name Onesimus is "useful." :-) If we follow anything but the Lord, then we are useless to Him, and we will not be saved. However, if we follow the Lord, then we are useful both to the Lord and to other Christians. Blessings to you, Nolan |
