AMPLIFIED 2015 | Jeremiah 13:10 'These wicked and malevolent people, who refuse to listen to My words, who walk in the stubborn way of their heart and have followed other gods [which are nothing--just man-made carvings] to serve them and to worship them, let them be just like this waistband which is completely worthless. |
Bible Question: I have been involved in an educational project for a girl with special needs in which the main focus was not to judge her but to understand. So if she gets angry and throws a chair, we remain calm an non-judjemental of the incident, but instead try to understand how she may have been feeling. In every situation we are accepting of her and let her know what is right and wrong but in a way that does not show us reacting to her actions. She has developed in to a well behaved little girl, often more understanding of people around her than most other children. I started this project before going to Church and I can't understand why God is always so angry in the OT. Surely anger is an emotion that is evil not good and therefore is God is perfect and good, why does he get angry and destroy nations. I understand that His people keep committing sins, but isn't it more holy to keep forgiving and "turn the other cheek". |
Bible Answer: Greetings Etoile! Have you read through Jeremiah and Lamentations? The Lord's wrath is poured out against Jerusalem and He scatters His flock amongst all the nations, only saving a remnant for Himself, which is sent off into exile. The difference between God's wrath and the wrath of humans is that God is a completely "just" God, and His anger is roused because of justice and love; not from vengeance or retribution. Let us not forget the words of Isaiah, which say, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:8-10, RSV) When the Lord is angry, He is very justifiably angry! And when He is gracious, then we do not deserve His grace. "And all the people of the earth are counted as nothing; and He does according to His will in the army of heaven, and among the people of the earth. And none can strike His hand, or say to Him, What are You doing?" (Daniel 4:35, MKJV) Blessings to you, Makarios |
