NASB | Jeremiah 12:1 Righteous are You, O LORD, that I would plead my case with You; Indeed I would discuss matters of justice with You: Why has the way of the wicked prospered? Why are all those who deal in treachery at ease? |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Jeremiah 12:1 You, O LORD are [uncompromisingly] righteous and consistently just when I plead my case with You; Yet let me discuss issues of justice with You: Why has the way of the wicked prospered? Why are those who deal in treachery (deceit) at ease and thriving? |
Bible Question:
Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Are we impatient that it does? |
Bible Answer: Matthew 5:44"But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?" We will not be impatient that the wicked prosper if we keep eternity in mind! This should be a very sobering reality check for every Christian. What am I more concerned about: the wicked prospering NOW or their prospects for eternity? I don't want to make light of your question, for we all wrestle with unjustices. But God assures us that HE will exact vengence upon evildoers. "Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, 'VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY,' says the Lord." Romans 12:19 Honestly, how do you feel about Osama Bin Laden? From his actions, we would call him wicked, and yet he is enormously wealthy or prosperous from a worldly perspective. Is he not your enemy as well as mine? Do you pray for him? I confess, I have not. |
