Bible Question:
Dear Doc if it indeed begins at birth, how is it that a baby who is killed at, before, or near birth, justified? I am not sure that the verses you sited were of much help. As they, for the majority, simply stated that we are sinners conceived in sin. If you have any biblical verses that answer the above question I would appreciate it. I believe that God is the God who saves, I simply am looking for the biblical discourses on this as I am having trouble locating them ;) I realize that I was not clear in what I was asking, thanks for your patience. Oh and if you could possibly include verses dealing with Gods plan for those that have not had the opportunity to hear the Gospel, and how they are judged I would GREATLY appreciate it :) Thank you so much, God bless you all. Bible Answer: Hi, Andrew... Our first parents sinned resulting in what is called the Fall (Genesis 3:12-13). Through them death came upon all humans (Romans 3:23), and every one of us became dead in sin (Romans 5:12). Salvation (of which justification is a part) is available by no other means than the sacrificial atonement of Jesus Christ (John 3:3; 14:6; Acts 4:12; 1 Corinthians 3:11; 1 Timothy 2:5-6; etc.). Now, Andrew, we don't even understand regeneration when it happens under "normal" conditions (John 3:8). :-) However, if some infants who die in their infancy are elect, then their redemption is only accomplished by the one and only means provided by God. Besides, even if Scripture weren't clear on this point, we'd be cheapening the Cross to suggest otherwise. The old Baptist divines said it this way: "Elect infants dying in infancy are regenerated and saved by Christ through the Spirit (John 3:3-6); Who works when, and where, and how He pleases (John 3:8); so also are all elect persons, who are incapable of being outwardly called by the ministry of the Word." (1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith, chapter 10, paragraph 3) God doesn't make us privy to everything, because it simply isn't our business (Deuteronomy 29:29). Consequently, we must simply infer some things, content in the knowledge of that everything would be carried out according to His will, to His glory. In Him, Doc |
